TERM ONE SUMMARY

I am super frustrated as my computer seems to have some sort of serious problem and is not allowing me to preview or sort the selected photos. As a result the samples are all mixed up and in no particular subject order. Sorry. I have tried to label most of them.

Bible- We have been reading bible stories and memorizing a verse per CSBM unit. She has memorised Phillipians 4:13 and is working now on Job 12:10. She has also done some of the devotionals from our devotions book but I am not super into the devotional. Perhaps we need a different one.

Fine Arts- Danica has been a creating machine as per usual, drawing, painting, shaping, and crafting.

Health and Career- I am not using a formalized H&C curriculum this year. Danica has however been learning about babies due to her little cousin. She also sorts and puts away laundry as a regular chore. She picks up and tidies plus any other chores I request of her. She understands basic hygiene and is continually learning about healthy foods vs occasional foods

Language Arts.- Danica has completed up to lesson 34 in First Language Lessons for the Well Trained Mind. She practices writing daily and had recently completed her Handwriting Without Tears grade one workbook. She has now started on the Grade 2 HWT workbook, Printing Power. She has been steadily working on her reading. She has read 35 readers to date and is on lesson 68 of the Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading. She has been working on poetry these last few weeks and has composed a cinquain, 2 limmericks and an acrostic. She is also working out of Write About Me and is on pg 12.

Mathmatics- In Right Start Math Danica has completed up to lesson 31. We are also working on understanding money outside of the math curriculums requirements. I have found a Money Song that we go over regularily to help her remember the values and appearances of the coins.

PE- Daily play, trampoline, walks, and running. Also Danica has been learning a little about kickboxing and though it is unorthodox I am teaching her proper fighting stance and how to throw a punch properly by landing them on our punching bag.

Science- Danica has learned about magnets this term. She understands that magnets have poles and has done plenty of experimenting with magnets and magnetic vs non magnetic items. She has been learning about other forces as well such as gravity and friction. She made a poster about push and pull forces. She has also been learning a ton about the water cycle in her weather class in the co-op here in town. She has been doing the science activities in CSBM as well.

Socials- Danica has been doing the socials activities in CSBM. She has already completed alll the social out comes for grade one last year. She has been working on maps this year. She has coloured world maps, explored our floor globe and worked on a project called ``Me on a Map``. She made a project with 7 maps ranging from our home all the way to a world map. The maps are all stacked on one another and linked together. She has learned the name of our street, city, province, country, continent, and planet. She is also learning about Remembrance Day and why we have that day.
